The Link of Violence

Understanding The Link® Between Violence to People and Animals

Studies show there are direct correlations between animal cruelty and other forms of violence. American Humane has a Speakers Bureau of authorities who can conduct workshops, seminars and symposiums for your organization or community coalition or help you organize a coalition. Participants will learn about The Link, psychological makeup of animal abusers and their motivations for harming animals, and key issues in assessing situations and intervening to break the cycle of violence. They’ll understand how to use the multi-disciplinary nature of The Link to overcome the challenges within the judicial system. They’ll see examples of innovative public policy and prevention and intervention strategies that are making a difference. They’ll learn how to report animal cruelty, child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, and elder abuse, and how to talk with victims about the violence in their lives. Presentations are tailored to the needs of your community and organization.

Some of these conferences are hosted by American Humane -- click here for registration information. Scholarships may be available for these classes -- deadline is 30 days prior to class date.
