Migration Conference Reports and Presentations

As a key topic in child welfare, migration has been discussed at numerous conferences and events in recent years. Valuable resources have stemmed from these discussions, which are available here.

Please follow the links below to access information from the 2006 Migration and Child Welfare Roundtable, 2008 National Forum of the Migration and Child Welfare National Network and 2009 National Forum of the Migration and Child Welfare National Network. 2006: First Migration and Child Welfare Roundtable
Topics at the roundtable included service challenges related to migration and immigration policy.

2008: Second National Forum of the Migration and Child Welfare National Network
Topics at the forum included the state of research about immigrant families in child welfare, a case study of a 15-year-old foster child trying to reunify with his family in Mexico and more.

2009: Third National Forum of the Migration and Child Welfare National Network
Topics at the forum included working with immigrant children and families in border states (Texas, New Mexico, California and Arizona, in particular), the well-being of children and families on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border, and policies and procedures of the Mexican child welfare agency.
