Brought to you in June by American Humane Association

Studies and statistics show that cats receive far lower grades for health care than dogs in veterinary practices and animal shelters. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, cats receive only about half the health care that dogs receive, and in shelters nationwide, only one in four cats finds a permanent home.

In honor of our Adopt-A-Cat Month in June, American Humane Association is working with our event partners — the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), CATalyst Council and Petfinder — to promote cat adoptions and subsequent lifelong health care for cats. By encouraging your patients to adopt a cat (or a second cat!), you will be helping to save lives while providing your practice with new patients.

The AVMA has resources for veterinarians and pet owners about feline health, wellness and welfare. You can access these resources online through AVMA's "Cat's Rule" website.

Here are some resources from CATalyst Council for you to download and use in your practice and in your community:

We hope you’ll use these tools to benefit your practice, animal shelters, cat owners and most especially, cats — during Adopt-A-Cat Month and throughout the year!
