The American Humane Association announced today that two-thirds of all cage-free eggs produced in the U.S. now come from farms and producers that have earned the American Humane® Certified™ label — a symbol of the nation’s premier animal welfare certification program.

The American Humane Association is part of the Animal Relief Coalition for Haiti (ARCH), an international group of professional animal welfare organizations committed to aiding animals in the earthquake-stricken region. American Humane is the first organization to join and commit significant resources to ARCH, which was created by the World Society for the Protection of Animals and the International Fund for Animal Welfare.

On Sunday, Sept. 20, 11 responders with the American Humane Association’s highly trained Red Star Animal Emergency Services™ team will return to a temporary shelter near St. Louis to continue to care for and socialize more than 500 fighting dogs that were rescued in July.

The American Humane Association was invited by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) to provide emergency sheltering for more than 250 dogs seized today in a raid of a suspected puppy mill in White County, Tenn.
