American Humane® Certified will exhibit at the Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, Calif., March 12-14, to showcase the fastest-growing animal welfare label for food producers. American Humane Certified, a program of the American Humane Association, provides independent certification of the humane treatment and care of farm animals.
Natural Products Expo West, held at the Anaheim Convention Center, is a premiere natural and organic products trade show with more than 50,000 attendees and 3,000 exhibits. American Humane Certified’s exhibit will showcase some of its producers and their products, including: Abbotsford Farms, Clover Stornetta Dairy Farms, Delimax Veal, Pastry Smartand Rumiano Cheese Company.
Consumers are looking for more humanely raised protein products. In a recent study, commissioned by American Humane, nearly 60 percent of consumers said they would pay up to 10 percent more for animal welfare certified products. Retailers are responding to consumer demand by adding more humanely raised products in stores and in some cases, creating entire sections.
American Humane Certified is America’s original animal welfare program. More than 60 million farm animals are under American Humane Certified’s science-based program. Over two-thirds of the cage-free egg production in the United States is certified by American Humane. More and more producers are responding to consumer and retailer demand for animal welfare by seeking independent, third-party verification of their practices. The American Humane Certified program is not only good for animals, but also good for people and good for business.
All attendees of the Expo are invited to visit the American Humane Certified exhibit, Booth #5317, to learn about the American Humane Certified program, including the proprietary three-tiered audit system, and Humane Care On-Line Training.
American Humane Certified’s three-tiered auditing process, known as “True Humane Tracking™,” provides transparency and accountability for producers, retailers and consumers. The method consists of on-site audits, observation of production data on a frequent basis through a proprietary online reporting system, and remote, real-time video monitoring of barns, transportation and processing facilities.
The Humane Care Training Program focuses on best practices and the science-based standards originated by American Humane Certified’s Scientific Advisory Committee. The program answers the industry’s need for education of existing and new employees so they can ensure proper and humane animal welfare and avoid potentially negative issues. The new training is available online and on-site.
American Humane works closely with its independent Scientific Advisory Committee, industry professionals and producers to ensure that industry advancements and best practices are part of American Humane certification standards. Based on American Humane’s 133-year legacy of advocating for the humane treatment of farm animals, consumers trust the American Humane Certified label.
