American Humane is looking for a dedicated, self-motivated Child Welfare Training and Technical Assistance Specialist for the Children’s Division at American Humane’s headquarters in Denver, Colorado.
Responsibilities include:
Training/Technical Assistance/Presentations:
- Provides technical assistance and consultation on an array of child welfare topics to our membership, clients (public and private child welfare agencies, other human service systems), other constituencies, and general public. This can be accomplished through site visits; email; correspondence; telephone; and web page design and management.
- Develops a wide array of curricula and delivers competency-based training and other training for U.S. public and private child welfare agencies, human service systems, community groups and other constituencies.
- Delivers presentations on a myriad of child welfare topics and represent American Humane at national and state conferences, forums or other events.
- Responsible for organization and lead training delivery of Colorado Supervision Training to child welfare supervisors.
- This position will require up to 50% travel both regionally and nationally.
Publication Development:
- Co-authors articles for professional publications.
- Authors and edits the development of materials on topics that American Humane can market and distribute through its publications department. This could include issues of Protecting Children, other monographs or guidelines, training curricula, Issue Briefs.
- Writes reports, articles and chapters to satisfy American Humane’s contract requirements.
- Writes content for inclusion on the website, including issue briefs, email updates, fact sheets, and other short publications that promote American Humane’s initiatives and programs.
Fund Development:
- Builds business opportunities for American Humane in numerous areas that generate revenue for the organization.
- Works with other American Humane colleagues in Children’s Services (and other departments) to develop proposals, introductory letters, and concept papers submitted to foundations, corporations, Federal and State agencies to advance Children’s Services’ initiatives.
- Reviews, as requested, proposals submitted to foundations and corporations.
- Represents American Humane’s Children’s Services Division in local, state and national coalitions and meetings, identifying and promoting program development opportunities for American Humane.
Requirements:
Candidate must possess a Master’s Degree in human services field along with a total of 5 years of progressively responsible experience performing program and/or curriculum development and training work in child welfare is required. Experience in child welfare direct services and supervision is highly beneficial. Candidates must have knowledge of and ability to, develop and organize comprehensive and creative curricula on a variety of child welfare topics essential. The successful candidate will be highly organized, possess the ability to multi-task, and should be able to maintain detailed records and reports. Candidates should have advanced knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software (MS Office Suite and Outlook). Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills. This position is full time and includes great benefits. We provide a casual, friendly atmosphere. Candidates must be willing to work some irregular hours, as well as be able to travel up to 50% of time. The annual salary range for this position will be $55,000 to $60,000 depending on experience.
