Who develops the Guidelines for the Safe Use of Animals in Filmed Media?

Creating new guidelines and revising existing ones is an intensive process. Before a proposed change can be adopted and incorporated into our Guidelines, it is crafted in consultation with a committee of experts that includes animal behaviorists, scientists, veterinarians, primatologists, horse experts, animal trainers and other authorities on animal welfare. Once drafted, it must be reviewed and approved by a separate panel of experts and American Humane Association’s board of directors.
