American Humane Association provides the most recent statistics available on child abuse and neglect in the United States through our series of fact sheets. The fact sheets contain such topics as emotional abuse, sexual abuse, fatalities due to abuse or neglect, cyber bullying, and shaken baby syndrome. Keep in mind that these statistics are usually delayed one to two years due to the way they are collected through the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS). Learn more about NCANDS and the data set.
If you would like more information or help with a specific case of child abuse or neglect, please see question 1 above for what to do or contact your local department of social services or child protection.
