Honoring the Hero Dogs of September 11

Please join us at the official kickoff for the American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards™ and a celebration of the human-animal bond, as we honor the extraordinary dogs who valiantly served in the aftermath of Sept. 11, 2001.

Your host, the incomparable Whoopi Goldberg, along with renowned dog trainer and author Victoria Stilwell, star of Animal Planet's hit TV series It's Me or the Dog, will lead this gala event to honor the Hero Dogs who provided New Yorkers — and all Americans — with hope, comfort and lifesaving assistance through some of our most difficult days.

Special guests include FDNY, NYPD and other first responders; Daniel Rodriguez the acclaimed "Singing Policeman," who stirred hearts with his rendition of God Bless America after 9/11; and the 10th-generation descendant of the famous canine actor RIN TIN TIN, national spokesdog for American Humane Association's Red Star™ Animal Emergency Services, which provided help and hope in New York in the weeks after the terrorist attacks and has been involved in thousands of animal rescues following disasters.
