American Humane Association Announces 2009 Pets & Pals Photo Contest™ Winners

Denver (September 16, 2009)

Earlier this summer, American Humane’s annual Pets & Pals Photo Contest™ called for pictures of animals, people and children in a variety of settings and received thousands of entries of amazing photographs from across the country. But in the end, Mark Rogers of San Francisco, Calif., and Linda Wilsey of Pacific Grove, Calif., took top honors and will each receive a $1,000 grand prize.

Rogers’ photo, “Give Me Paw,” captures a playful moment with a Maltese, raising its paw in a high-five toward the camera. Wilsey’s photo “Gizmo: ‘Adopt Me!’” shows a small terrier with its nose poking imploringly through a shelter enclosure’s metal bars.

In addition to selecting the grand prize recipients, the organization awarded prizes in each of four categories: Pets, People & Pets, Down on the Farm and Shelter Life. Category winners will each receive $500.
