American Humane Association Appoints Tim Amlaw Manager of American Humane Certified™ Farm Animal Program
Denver (October 15, 2007)
The American Humane Association announced that Tim Amlaw of Denver, Colo., has joined the organization as program manager for its American Humane Certified™ program. He will be working from American Humane’s headquarters in Denver to increase the number of producers certified by American Humane and promote best practices for the humane treatment of farm animals.
Established in 2000, the American Humane Certified program guarantees consumers that the products bearing the American Humane Certified label are from animals that were raised and treated humanely. American Humane Certified also recently became a member of the American Meat Institute.
Amlaw has more than 30 years’ experience in the agricultural and beef industries. He comes to American Humane most recently from representing Beef Plus Inc., in Denver as manager and corporate developer. He founded the first brand certification for tenderness by the USDA and during the last 20 years has worked on the development and integration of natural organic products into the beef industry.
Amlaw also developed contracts for the hotel, restaurant and institutions industry for the first tenderness beef branded product introduction with Nobel Sysco Inc., a food services company. He is experienced in government regulation and compliance in the industry and in the application of innovations in the beef industry, such as myostatin control. Myostatin is a protein responsible for regulating muscle mass. Amlaw also spent some time teaching agricultural education to high school and college level students.
Amlaw’s experience in the agricultural and beef industries will help American Humane increase the number of producers that the program will certify for humane treatment in addition to focusing on the latest scientific and production developments in the industry.
