The Senate is expected to vote this week on spending for the rest of the year. They will either agree to the extreme cuts passed by the House (HR 1) -- $65 billion less than last year's spending for domestic programs -- or support the Senate bill.
The House is expected to vote this week on a House Budget proposal that contains cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, Food Stamps and education and changes Medicaid to a block grant program.
The House bill to fund the federal government for the rest of the fiscal year contains cuts to Head Start and child care programs. Now, the funding decisions are in the hands of the Senate.
